In December 2020, central Croatia was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 on the Richter scale.
Consequences of the earthquake in December 2020.
The epicenter of the earthquake was in one of the poorest parts of Croatia, which also suffered a lot during the war in the 90s. Croatia for Christ decided to collect donations and help those who lost everything in 15 seconds.
Visiting the Kačar family in their new home with James Nored - one of our donors.
With the help of Mrs. Branka Bakšić Mitić, deputy mayor of Glina, we met the modest Kačar family, whose house suffered enormous damage after the earthquake and was no longer in condition for living. With a daughter with cerebral palsy and low income, the family of five found themselves in difficult living conditions. With the help of the deputy mayor, we managed to find a house that was well built and rated suitable for living.

The house of the Kukoleča marked for demolition.
With the help of Deputy Mayor Branka Bakšić Mitić, we met the Kukoleča family, who live in a village near the epicenter of the earthquake. They worked hard all their lives to build a home where three generations of family members lived, and they put in their savings to renovate the house 6 years before the earthquake. The earthquake was so strong that the top floor with the roof separated from the rest of the house and the house was marked with a red sticker by experts, which means that it must be demolished.
They decided to build a new house in a safer location, and from the donations of Christians, Croatia for Christ covered the costs of materials for the construction of the new house.

With the rest of the collected donations, Croatia for Christ helped two more families, and all our donors received a report and invoices for all expenses.
On behalf of our small team in Croatia and on behalf of the families we helped, we thank all our donors who responded to this great need.
