In April we had our annual Spring camp of the Churches of Christ in the town of Crikvenica, at the Croatian coast.
Traditionally, the week after Easter we have this gathering every year in the Life Center hotel. For five days members of the local churches and seekers spent time together to be encouraged. This time was filled with worship, evening lectures, morning discussion groups, as well as free time for socializing and enjoying walks by the sea. Guest preacher this year was Steve Kell, from the Care church in Richardson in Texas. He blessed the participants every evening with his sermons on the topic of “Fixing Our Eyes Upon Jesus”. Mornings at the camp were spent talking about the topics from previous evening lectures and all the participants had a chance to choose the group that fits them best. The choices were Croatian-speaking groups, English speaking groups with or without translation as well as the group in Ukranian. We are thankful for our partnership with the Next Generation for Christ ministry and their American mission team who were helping at the camp in groups for adults, as well as working with teenagers and children. Time spent with them was an opportunity for the participants to also practice their English talking to native speakers. The most joyful event of the five-day gathering was the baptism of Leon, one of the Varaždin Church of Christ teenagers. Leon brought a lot of joy to our church, especially to the teen group and it is wonderful to see this group growing and to see our youth supporting and encouraging each other on their faith journey.
